Australia is the Brisbane of the world.

I walked into work at 9.15am today,
somehow I'd lost a bit of time
somewhere along the line.
Greeted by A,
who had his feet on my desk
and new temp K.
K is nice and is more than keen to
learn everything and get on with things.
Which makes a nice change.

She's going to India in 2.5 weeks,
to work for a non-profit organisation,
to assist with HIV Aids
education programs.

In 2.5 weeks I'll be snowed under with
studing drawing, photography, science and
finishing off my graphic design course.
But I'm looking forward to it all.

At the work meeting today,
the manager reported on the
student intake for the first half of the year,
and said "We've had very low student intakes,
it could possibly be due to the high levels
of employment, everyone is in a job so they don't
feel they need to go to university".
Or perhaps its because no one wants to go to
a catholic university.
Will religion ever die out?
In my science readings, I read some
common misconceptions children have,
and the questions they ask which you
as a teacher must be able to consider and respond.
"Didn't god make the people and the trees?"
-Oh dear god.
or perhaps
-Well kiddies, it's a little bit like
asking How does santa fit down the chimney,
or what do the fairies do with the teeth
I leave under my pillow.
or perhaps simple just...
-Ask your parents tonight.

After the high of the weekend's
activities, I feel a bit low.
I'm seeing Interpol tonight,
which I'm sure will cheer me up.
Dollface texted me and said
that she thought I looked so happy
yesterday and that it was good to see
me smiling.
Yes, very very happy to see my lover.

It was over so quickly,
I was walking to work thinking
that I'd woken from a dream.

The title is a Barry Humphries' quote,
in response to the film
All my friends are leaving Brisbane.

I wish one more would leave.
Soon.

I love you, awesome.

I found so many great websites this weekend,

this one is brilliant.
http://hughgrantsquidtest.blogspot.com/

I especially like the grandparents one.
"A grandparent is a human that has produced
one thousand offspring, (hence the origin of the word)."
and
the christmas one.
"If your Birthday is on Christmas Day,
the two cancel each other out and you get nothing."

Other favourites:

Last night I went to ACMI cinema,
for a British Council screening of
Airplay UK.
Video clips and interviews with producers.

My favourite clips were:
Ruarri Joseph - Blankets

Turin Brakes - Something in my eye

Last weekend I screenprinted,
haven't done that since school.

I hope the shirt I made turns up for M on Monday.
I'm so pleased with it.

I'm hoping he'll be my Valentine.

In a more intimate moment.

I lent V at work my Eagle vs Shark
and Flight of the conchords dvds.
Its been 5 days.

When I got to work today,
the loud American gave me a book,
"Are you still doing your teaching course?
This is a really good book for essays,
its extremely boring."
-No, but I'll have it anyway.

'Fifty major thinkers on Education.'
'From Confucious to Dewey.'

I read Confucious and Socrates on the tram
on the way home. It seems that the Chinese
were better at documenting people,
than the Greeks.

(There's no Socrates desk calendar quotes).

Socrates: "If we all want to be happy,
how are we going to know if
what we are doing now is
contributing to that unless we
think it through."

How indeed.

The crying of Lot 49 - Thomas Pynchon.

Lines I like:

'Run away with me,' said Roseman when the coffee came.
'Where?' she asked. That shut him up.

At some point she went into the bathroom, tried to find her image
in the mirror and couldn't. She had a moment of nearly pure terror.
Then remembered that the mirror had broken and fallen in the sink.

She may have fallen asleep once or twice.
She awoke at last to find herself getting laid.

I woke today from a dream about S.
I was madly in love with S.
I think I still am in a way.

I was at his house doing the dishes.
His family were there and his father hated me,
said I was no good.
Then he stood next to me at the sink,
and gave me the exact same look,
he gave me one night in the pub where we worked.

In a more intimate moment,
we could have kissed then and there.

He is the only boy I've ever known to own
Gravity's Rainbow,
I saw it on the shelf above his bed,
when we were having sex,
and I mentioned that I had it too.
I still have fantasies of emailing him when I've read it,
just to tell him.

I told him that I would write a book
and send it to him.

I guess in a way I did.
