Unchartered Waters

I cancelled my painting subject this morning,
it was all getting too much for me.
So now I only have Arguments101 (critical thinking) to do this term.

And you know what,
as soon as I stopped worrying about art work,
I did some.
The only thing that doing a BArt (Fine Art) has taught me so far,
is that I'm more creative without it.
Do I really need to finish my last 8 subjects????
Do I?
Fortune Tellers.. any answers?
Front cover - complete with obligatory coffee ring.

Back cover
Finally got started on my Sketchbook Project 2012 submission.
Front and back pages on the theme Unchartered Waters.

34 more pages to go,
I have until 31st January 2012 to submit it,
then it gets scanned into an online viewable thing
and goes on tour!

Blanket for Len

Finally finished Len's granny square blanket after just over 4 months!
This was in-between working full-time and studying ...
and also waiting for the second lot of wool to arrive.

The wool is from the Bendigo Woolen Mills.
And I just hope that the sheep are well looked after.
Will investigate.

It's so hard to take a decent photo with Melbourne's light.

I have to order wool for Ner's blanket next ...
She wants yellow..  just bought the wool,
it's actually cotton as I recently saw a documentary
about merino wool and the sheep who live in cages
their whole lives, so as not to get their wool dirty.
Sorry this animal mis-treatment thing is really becoming an obsession with me.
I'm changing my ways for the better.

I'm still also working on another (non-granny square) blanket for myself,
which I think will take a good year or so...
Only because it's for me and there's no pressure!

I'll take a photo on a good light day as
it's got a lovely little pattern through it.

Got M checking up on me.
Bye!

Yesterday don't matter if it's gone.

It's taken more than 3 years to fill this book up.
2007 mustn't have been a big year,  a trip to Japan,  a move to Melb... Not enough!

Thanks, nothing you do is ever stupid spotty... (my sister was having doubts, because I was the only one in the family who thought it was a great idea).  Christmas 2007 Len had chickenpox!!

My family like to buy me those gift card things - what do I do with them???!

A nice fat book.

Modest Mouse, Luka Bloom and no entry to Melbourne Uni.

Michael and some kitties.

Some more kitties.

From a fairy book at fArt class.

More kitties, a bird and a ship.

Drawings from my year 1 kidlets.

Comic - "Oooww, what are you a vampire?" "Wooooaaahhh" "That's a zombie!"
Clap your hands say yeah!
Science of Sleep film.

In Japan I wore fake blue eyes.

My first gig in Melbourne 7th August 2007 - Arctic Monkeys.

Kitson.

Sigur Ros 2007

Andrew W K loves me.

Falls Festival - was becoming a New Years tradition...

Kitson and Modest Mouse.

An evening with the Eels.
It's a shame Greg didn't let me backstage.

Melb International Animation Festival.

Sigur Ros 2008 and random things.

I was going to do a post-it note drawing everyday, didn't last more than 4 days obviously...

Wicked, Billy Elliot, Russel Kane and The Pixies!

Japan.

Animation Festival, Chicago, Billy Twinkle.

Comedy, trip to Sydney to see Jimmy Eat World for Len's birthday.

Jarvis Cocker, The Eels and comedy.

Pulp, The Man in Black, Social Distortion (awesome).

The proof of my tattoo, I preferred it in red, but my tattooist wanted it to be coloured.

The envelope where I got my tattoo from.

Me in a photo booth in Paris holding a mini Tour Eiffel.
Travelling alone means you don't get photos of yourself very often.
This book is finally finished,
I feel so pleased...
It's funny but my family don't know I have a blog,
despite their photos all over it.
Shhhhhh, I like to keep things to myself!

Keeping scrapbooks of things makes me think
of Andy Warhols Time Capsules.
One day all this crap will be so pleasing to look back on.

Procrastination

I have a major assignment due
in 3 weeks and I've done nothing,
except read and crochet for the past week.

This is about half the size it's going to be.
(It's going to be a rug, with a thick black border).

This is almost ankle height.

This is something altogether awesome,
and slightly confronting.
I don't think I could ever make art
in front of people like this.
Tony Orrico will be part of my project "research".
Thank god for the internet.

I've been in a strange state of mind
for the past few weeks,
I concentrate for hours on silly projects like
the crochet rug,
and forget that anything else exists.

Fucking procrastination.

Write-Off

Today has been a write off
in terms of work completed.

I spent the morning preparing my folio presentation,
finally for the assignment submitted, only 1.5 hours late.
I actually laughed out loud this morning,
when I remembered that Western Australia is 2 hours behind!
9am deadline, just became an 11 am deadline.
Unfortunately, I didn't quite make it.

It was mainly name stuff,
and I don't want to put my name on here....
So this is a small example.

I also worked out my final portfolio submission
for this subject,
I think I may be a little too ambitious.
It involves, fairy lights, embroidery, grass, beads, and video.
Out of 32 ideas, I wonder how many will work as well as they
do in my head.
If only I could submit my brain,
it's full of fun ideas.
